GSE market capitalisation declines by Ghs 16.13 million
Market capitalization of the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) declined by GH¢ 16.13 million to close trading at GH¢ 63.45 billion representing a YTD growth of 16.70%.
The drop in the local bourse’s market capitalisation was on the back of the decline in stocks of GCB Bank (GCB) and Standard Chartered Bank (SCB).
The price decline in GCB and SCB stocks resulted in the bourse closing in the red.
GCB closed at GH¢ 5.38 representing 0.19% drop while SCB lost 10 pesewas to close at GH¢ 18.50.

Due to this, the benchmark GSE Composite Index (GSE-CI) lost 1.54 points to close at 2,787.03 translating into a YTD return of 43.54%.
Also, the GSE Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI) slipped by 2.80 points to close at 1,980.43 translating into a YTD return of 10.93%.
Meanwhile, trade volume and value went down from previous trading session by 86.83% and 68.62% respectively to 553,045 shares valued at GH¢ 1,643,053.50.
Seven (7) equities traded with GCB Bank (GCB) recording the lion’s share of trades as it accounted for 74.58% of the total value traded.
