GSE Market Wrap: CAL, GOIL, and GLD Lead Gainers Amid Reduced Trading Activity

GSE Market Wrap: CAL, GOIL, and GLD Lead Gainers Amid Reduced Trading Activity

The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) witnessed CAL Bank (CAL), GOIL, and Gold Fund (GLD) emerging as the day’s top gainers. CAL closed at GH¢0.38, GOIL at GH¢1.57, and GLD at GH¢416.20.

Trading Activity

MTN Ghana (MTNGH) led trading volumes, with 72,440 shares valued at GH¢188,344.00, followed by CAL, Societe Generale Ghana (SOGEGH), Cocoa Processing Company (CPC), and Clydestone (CLYD).

However, trading volumes saw a significant decline of 93.40%, dropping to 117,266 shares from the previous session’s 1,777,340.

The total value of trades also plummeted by 94.53%, closing at GH¢239,502.69 compared to GH¢4,800,890.54 in the prior session.

The GSE Composite Index (GSE-CI) gained 2.45 points to close at 5,002.17 points, with a Year-To-Date (YTD) return of 2.32%.

The GSE Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI) increased by 1.22 points to 2,388.38 points, reflecting a YTD return of 0.27%.

Market Capitalization

The overall market capitalization rose by GH¢64.05 million to GH¢113.01 billion, buoyed by gains in select equities.

Sector Highlights

Banking Equities For the Week

  • Ecobank Ghana (EGH): Limited trading activity with 561 shares traded at a value of GH¢3,646.50. The stock remained at GH¢6.50, giving EGH a market capitalization of GH¢2.09 billion.
  • Standard Chartered Bank (SCB): Recorded no trading activity, maintaining its share price at GH¢23.00, with a market capitalization of GH¢3.09 billion.

 

Mining Equities For the Week

  • Asante Gold: No trading activity, with the share price unchanged at GH¢8.89. Market capitalization remains at GH¢4.17 billion.
  • Atlantic Lithium Ghana (ALLGH): Traded 209 shares at GH¢6.12, totaling GH¢1,279.08. The company’s market capitalization stands at GH¢4.24 billion.

 

Petroleum Equities For the Week

  • GOIL: Traded 1,025 shares valued at GH¢1,609.25, gaining GH¢0.05 to close at GH¢1.57. The company’s market capitalization is GH¢613 million.
  • TotalEnergies: Recorded no trading activity, maintaining its share price at GH¢13.20, with a market capitalization of GH¢1.46 billion.

The day’s trading was marked by reduced activity, but gains in some equities provided positive momentum for the indices and overall market capitalization.
