GSE: Six equities post losses on stock market slips by 38.04 points

Six equities recorded losses in share prices at the end of trading session on Friday, February 4, 2022.

The losses posted by the six equities saw the Ghana Stock Exchange slip by 38.04 points over the week to close at 2,728.76 points posting a negative 2.17 year-to-date returns for investors.

The GSE Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI) also lost 4.02 points to close the week at 2,127.91 translating into a YTD return of -1.11%.

Cumulatively, the six equities lost 49.51 percentage points in share prices. On average, the equities recorded 8.25 percentage points loss in their share prices.

Equities that recorded losses in share prices at the end of last week’s trading include CAL Bank, MTNGH, BOPP, ETI, Access Bank and FanMilk.

FanMilk recorded the highest share price loss with a 25% decline in stock price. The least share price loss was posted by CAL Bank with a 2.44% decline in stock price.

There was no gainer(s) for the week under review.

Due to the share price losses, market capitalization thus decreased by GH¢ 384.20 million to close the trading week at GH¢63.71 billion.

Meanwhile, a total of 5.92 million shares valued at GH¢6.46 million traded during  the week compared to 5.50 million shares valued at GH¢5.93 million  which traded the previous week. 

MTNGH recorded the most trades per value traded  for a second week running as it accounted for 44.45% of the total  value traded.
