GSE: Trading Volume Soars 1,653% But Trade Turnover Contracts by 18%

GSE: Trading Volume Soars 1,653% But Trade Turnover Contracts by 18%

On Monday, trading volume surged dramatically by 1,653.12%, from 62,938 shares to 1,103,377 shares, marking a significant uptick in market activity.

However, despite this sharp increase, trade turnover contracted by 18.15%, declining from GH₵3.08 million to GH₵2.52 million, as 15 stocks traded during the session.

MTN Ghana (MTNGH) led the market in both volume and value, with 1,026,773 shares changing hands for GH₵2.24 million.

Fan Milk Limited (FML), in contrast, saw a modest 1,469 shares traded, amounting to GH₵5,141.50 in turnover.

Equity performance was mixed. Enterprise Group Limited (EGL) recouped some of its earlier losses with a GH₵0.16 increase, closing at GH₵1.81.

On the downside, NewGold (GLD) fell sharply by GH₵7.00 to GH₵385.00, while Société Générale Ghana (SOGEGH) slipped GH₵0.05 to GH₵1.50.

Meanwhile, the benchmark Composite Index edged down by 0.75 points, trimming its year-to-date (YTD) return to 38.56%. The Financial Stocks Index also dipped to 2,117.13 points, yielding a YTD return of 11.34%.
