GSE, YIN and CSD launch 2024 edition of National Youth Investment Educational Training Programme

The 2024 edition of the National Youth Investment Educational Training Programme has been launched by the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE), the Young Investors Network (YIN) and the Central Securities Depository (CSD).

The National Youth Investment Educational Training Programme is a Ghana Youth Financial Literacy Campaign.

The launch of the 2024 edition of the National Youth Investment Educational Training Programme took place on Friday, March 15, 2024 at the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE).

Speaking at the launch of the 2024 edition, Managing Director of the GSE, Abena Amoah, noted the objective of the training programme is to ensure the nation’s youth are financially literate.

“This initiative must be established as a cornerstone of youth empowerment in the country,” she remarked, further asserting the Financial Literacy Campaign has ignited interest in the country’s investment landscape among the youth.

Speaking further during the launch, Ms Amoah noted the GSE is committed to supporting the National Youth Investment Educational Training Programme to achieve the ultimate goal of making every Ghanaian financially literate.

“Our objective is to empower the youth,” he quipped.

Last year, over 15,000 students were trained under the programme with the training programme expanded to cover five regions.

The National Youth Investment Educational Training Programme is designed to equip ambitious young people with the skills and knowledge to become future business leaders and understand the operations of the Ghana Stock Exchange and capital markets.

The training programme is committed to championing investment and savings education among the youth in secondary and tertiary institutions across the country.

The three main programmes under the National Youth Investment Educational Training Programme are; Investment Training Tour to Universities, Stock Pitch Competition for Tertiary Institutions, and Capital Market Quiz for Secondary Schools.

The objectives of the National Youth Investment Educational Training Programme include;

  • Achieve GSE’s strategic objective of embedding financial literacy and enhancing effective market information dissemination.
  • Educate students on investment and savings.
  • Educate students on the operations of the stock exchange and capital markets.
  • Develop the next generation of investors with a sustainable investor education program.
  • Expose the students to career options in the capital-market space.
