Harnessing Data Visualisation for Citizen Engagement: BudgIT Ghana to Launch Simplified 2025 Budget Statement; Host Stakeholder Capacity Workshop for Civil Society and Media
As part of efforts to strengthen public finance transparency and deepen citizen engagement, BudgIT Ghana is set to launch its Simplified 2025 Budget Statement and convene a high-impact Civil Society and Media Stakeholder Capacity Building Workshop on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, under the theme “Enhancing Stakeholder Capacity for Inclusive Development”.
The event, anchored on a deeper sub-theme “Strengthening Budget Advocacy for Impact”, is designed to empower civic and media actors with the tools and skills to interpret fiscal data, track budget implementation, and engage the public more effectively in governance.
A special highlight of the day will be the presence of Oluseun Onigbinde, the Global Director and Co-Founder of the BudgIT Foundation, who will serve as Guest of Honour and Lead Facilitator. With years of expertise in civic technology and public finance advocacy across Africa, his facilitation will guide participants through practical methods of simplifying budget information, visualising data, and amplifying citizen voices.
The Stakeholder Capacity Workshop will bring together participants from civil society, development partners, and the media. The aim of the workshop is to enhance stakeholder capacity to break down complex budget issues into accessible formats, strengthen data-driven advocacy, and promote informed public discourse on resource allocation and service delivery, particularly for marginalised communities.
Another major highlight of the event will be the official launch of BudgIT Ghana’s Simplified 2025 Budget Statement. Developed to improve public access to critical fiscal information, the simplified budget transforms technical policy documents into clear, citizen-friendly formats. This initiative underscores BudgIT Ghana’s commitment to fostering fiscal transparency and inclusive governance by making budget information usable for citizens, community leaders, and grassroots advocates alike.
This convergence will provide a platform for collaboration, learning, and collective action, aligning with BudgIT Ghana’s broader mission to create a more accountable and participatory fiscal ecosystem that puts citizens at the centre of governance.
