Harry Kane Makes History: Fastest to Reach 100 Goals for Bayern Munich
In a night to remember, Harry Kane etched his name in the record books by scoring twice to reach 100 goals for Bayern Munich, achieving the milestone in just 104 matches. The England striker’s remarkable feat was instrumental in Bayern’s 4-0 victory over Werder Bremen, maintaining their perfect start to the Bundesliga season.
Kane’s prolific scoring has made headlines throughout the season, and this latest achievement makes him the fastest player in history to reach 100 goals for a club in Europe’s top five leagues, surpassing the previous record held by Cristiano Ronaldo and Erling Haaland, both of whom reached the mark in 105 games.
The match kicked off in festive spirits as Bayern celebrated the first weekend of Oktoberfest. Kane was eager to make his mark from the outset, creating two early chances alongside teammate Michael Olise. However, he first skewed a shot wide and then saw his effort saved by Werder Bremen’s debutant goalkeeper, Karl Hein, on loan from Arsenal.
Bayern opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when Jonathan Tah flicked in a backheel off Luis Diaz’s knee after a precise cross from Olise. Despite Bremen’s attempts to counterattack, they found themselves increasingly pinned back into their own penalty area as Bayern dominated possession.
Just before halftime, Kane drew a foul from Marco Friedl inside the box, confidently converting the resulting penalty to net his 99th goal for the club. Twenty minutes into the second half, he struck again, sidefooting a pass from Diaz to complete his century.
Konrad Laimer capped off the scoring with a fourth goal for Bayern just three minutes from time, but the night undoubtedly belonged to Kane, who now boasts an impressive 15 goals in just eight games across all competitions this season.
Amid his scoring spree, speculation has arisen linking Kane with a potential move to Barcelona or a return to the Premier League next summer. However, Bayern’s director of sport, Christoph Freund, dismissed these rumors, emphasizing Kane’s enjoyment and hard work at the club. “When you see how much fun Harry is having here, I think and hope he will be staying with us for a long time,” Freund stated. He added that in his current form, Kane is “the best Harry Kane we’ve ever seen.”
