Hearts of Oak beat Asante Kotoko to win fifth President’s Cup
Patrick Razak scored the decisive goal once again as his stunning effort helped Hearts of Oak beat Asante Kotoko 2-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium to claim the 2022 President’s Cup.
Razak restored the lead after Samuel Boateng came off the bench to get the equaliser for the Porcupine Warriors after Daniel Afriyie Barnieh had given the Phobians the lead.
The first half of the game saw a lot of grit as both sides tried to establish dominance, but had nothing to show for as neither side could break the deadlock.
After recess, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh scored the first goal of the game, with his strike from the edge of the box beating Ibrahim Danlad to give Hearts of Oak the lead.
As the game advanced, Prosper Narteh Ogum brought on Samuel Boateng, and that substitution paid off as he scored the equalizer.

The game was heading towards extra time until a counter-attack from Hearts of Oak put Patrick Razak clear on goal, who rounded Ibrahim Danlad and netted the winner to seal the trophy for the Phobians.
After going ten years without a single trophy, the President’s Cup become the fourth trophy Hearts have won under coach Samuel Boadu, adding to the league, FA Cup and Super Cup.
Hearts of Oak will be hugely motivated after the 2022 President’s Cup triumph as they are 14 points behind current league leaders Asante Kotoko, with their second round campaign continuing next week.
Hearts will be travelling to Dormaa for a clash with Aduana FC as Kotoko welcome Bibiani Gold Stars at the Baba Yara Stadium next week Sunday.
