Hearts of Oak Condemn Post-Match Brawl Following Loss to Kotoko
Accra Hearts of Oak SC have issued a strong condemnation of the chaotic scenes that erupted after their recent Ghana Premier League encounter with Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium. The match, which ended in a disappointing defeat for Hearts, also became notable for the unfortunate incidents that escalated post-game.
In a statement released on Monday, the club expressed profound regret over the disturbances, emphasizing that such behaviors starkly contradict the core values of the Hearts of Oak identity. “Following the conclusion of that match, we acknowledge with deep regret the unfortunate scenes that unfolded after the final whistle. These moments do not reflect the values we uphold as a club — values rooted in discipline, respect, and the spirit of fair play,” the club stated.
The turmoil reportedly involved players confronting match officials and supporters throwing objects onto the field, leading Hearts of Oak to extend an unreserved apology to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), match officials, and the broader football community.
Hearts of Oak management reassured stakeholders that disciplinary measures are being taken against the players involved. “As part of our internal response, we have initiated disciplinary processes concerning the player involved. These steps are being taken to ensure accountability, uphold our standards, and prevent future occurrences,” the club confirmed.

In the wake of the incident, player Hussein Mohammed has been charged by the GFA for misconduct, including allegations of assault against the match referee. Both the club and Mohammed are required to respond to the charges by Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
