Hearts Of Oak To Undergo Technical Review After Disappointing Campaign

Hearts of Oak management has announced plans for a comprehensive ‘technical review’ following a challenging 2023/24 season.

This decision aims to revamp the team ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, ensuring improved performance and competitiveness.

The club’s struggles were evident last season, particularly in the Ghana Premier League, where they narrowly avoided relegation with a last-day comeback victory over Bechem United. The match, clouded by controversy and perceived inconsistencies, highlighted the team’s urgent need for systemic changes.

“The Management of Accra Hearts of Oak is pleased to inform its cherished fans and stakeholders that the club is undertaking a comprehensive technical review following the just-ended season,” read a statement released by Hearts of Oak on Friday, July 19, 2024.

The statement outlined the steps being taken: “The board’s technical sub-committee has engaged with both Management and the Technical staff to evaluate performance, assess recruitment plans, and strategize for the upcoming 2024/25 season. The club recognizes the need for improvement after a challenging 2023/24 season and is committed to enhancing its performance and competitiveness.”

This review process will involve a detailed assessment of individual player performances and the formulation of new recruitment strategies.

Hearts of Oak management has assured fans and stakeholders that they will receive regular updates on the progress of these evaluations and plans.

“The technical review process involving individual player performance evaluation and recruitment plans is ongoing, and regular updates will be provided to fans and stakeholders. The club calls upon its loyal supporters to remain patient and trust the ongoing process. The club is dedicated to building a stronger team for the upcoming season. Stay tuned for further announcements as we prepare for an exciting 2024/25 campaign,” the statement concluded.

The recent 2-1 loss to archrivals Asante Kotoko in the Democracy Cup, marking their third consecutive defeat to Kotoko, further emphasised the need for a strategic overhaul. In response to these challenges, Hearts of Oak reportedly plans to release over 17 players as part of their efforts to rejuvenate the squad.
