Tottenham Sign West Ham Forward Kudus; Fee Reportedly £55m

Tottenham Hotspur have officially announced the signing of West Ham United forward Mohammed Kudus.

A Tottenham Hotspur official statement read: “We are delighted to confirm the signing of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United, subject to a work permit. The Ghana international has agreed to a long-term contract and will wear the No. 20 shirt.”

Born in Ghana, Kudus began his career at local club Strong Tower before joining the Right to Dream Academy in 2012. Just before his 18th birthday, he moved to Europe and joined Danish side Nordsjælland in 2018. After making 57 appearances and scoring 14 goals for their first team, he signed for Ajax in July 2020.

A dynamic and direct attacking player, Kudus made an immediate impact at Ajax, being involved in four goals in his first three matches. He helped Ajax win both the Eredivisie and KNVB Cup in his debut season.

Across his time in the Netherlands, he made 87 appearances and scored 27 goals, winning another Eredivisie title in 2021/22. The following season, Kudus hit top form, netting 18 goals in all competitions, including four in the Champions League.

In August 2023, he joined West Ham United and made his Premier League debut the following month as a substitute. He scored twice in his first Europa League start and was nominated for Premier League Player of the Month in December.

Kudus impressed in his first season in England, recording 14 goals and 9 assists. One of his goals—a stunning solo effort against Freiburg in the Europa League—won West Ham’s Goal of the Season award and was also nominated for the 2024 FIFA Puskás Award.

Over the past two years, the forward has been named Ghana Player of the Year consecutively. During his two seasons at the London Stadium, he made 80 appearances and scored 19 goals in all competitions.

Internationally, Kudus debuted for Ghana’s senior team in November 2019, scoring on his debut in a 2–0 AFCON qualifying win over South Africa. He has since earned 42 caps and scored 12 goals for the Black Stars.

He was part of Ghana’s squad at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where he scored twice in the group stage, and also featured in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
