Hype.UP Ltd. Denies NTB Allegations, Demands Accountability for Breach of Contract

Hype.UP Ltd., a leading tourism service provider based in Ghana, has strongly denied allegations made by the Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) in a recent press release, describing them as “baseless and defamatory.”

The accusations, Hype.UP claims, are a diversion from NTB’s financial mismanagement and failure to honour contractual obligations.

In a statement issued on January 20, Hype.UP disclosed that NTB owes the company a total of $51,123 under two legally binding contracts signed in September and October 2023.

The first contract, executed on September 6, 2023, saw a partial payment of $24,910, leaving an outstanding balance of $9,964. The second agreement, signed on October 27, 2023, remains entirely unpaid, with $41,159.92 still owed.

The Ghanaian firm maintains that it has fulfilled all obligations under both contracts, accusing NTB of fabricating claims of non-performance.

“NTB has failed to provide any evidence supporting their allegations,” Hype.UP stated, while describing the board’s conduct as “evasive and obstructive.”

Fraud Allegations Filed Against NTB Officials

The dispute escalated in December 2024, when Hype.UP filed a formal complaint with the Ghana Police Service, alleging fraudulent breach of trust by several NTB officials.

Those named in the complaint include Bornventure Mbidzo, NTB’s former acting CEO, and current acting CEO Charmaine Mattheus, among others.

Investigations are currently underway, with Hype.UP expressing confidence in a resolution.

Hype.UP Ltd. Exposes Namibia Tourism Board’s Fabricated Claims and Unpaid Debts

Hype.UP Ltd., a leading Ghanaian tourism service provider, vehemently refutes the baseless and defamatory allegations levelled by the Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) in their misleading press release issued on January 8, 2025. NTB’s desperate attempt to smear Hype.UP Ltd.’s reputation stems from their own financial mismanagement and unwillingness to honour contractual agreements.

Undisputed Facts:

Ɣ Two Legitimate Contracts: Contrary to NTB’s claims, only two contracts exist between our companies. These agreements were formally executed on September 6, 2023, and October 27, 2023, during the tenure of NTB’s previous board officials.

Ɣ Significant Outstanding Payments: NTB is in blatant breach of contract, owing Hype.UP Ltd. a substantial sum of USD 9,964 under the September 6 contract. Despite receiving partial payment of USD 24,910 on September 11, 2023, NTB has inexplicably refused to settle the remaining balance. Further compounding their delinquency, NTB has failed to make any payment whatsoever on the October 27 contract, leaving an outstanding debt of USD 41,159.92 for services duly rendered.

Ɣ Full Performance of Services: Hype.UP Ltd. unequivocally fulfilled all contractual obligations under both agreements. NTB’s unsubstantiated claim of non-performance is a shameful fabrication designed to deceive the public and evade their financial responsibilities. Notably, NTB has failed to produce a single shred of evidence to support their spurious allegations.

NTB’s Questionable Conduct and Potential Criminal Wrongdoing:

The current NTB officials have demonstrated a disturbing pattern of evasive and obstructive behaviour in their dealings with Hype.UP Ltd., raising serious concerns about their integrity and motives. Their actions have led Hype.UP Ltd. to file a formal complaint with the Ghana Police Service in December 2024, alleging fraudulent breach of trust by the following NTB officials:

  • Bornventure Mbidzo, Former Acting C.E.O
  • Johan Lombard, Board Lawyer
  • Charmaine Mattheus, Current Acting C.E.O
  • Amanda Bruyns, Board Secretary
  • Maggy Mbako, Chairperson of the Marketing Committee
  • Ursula Nguvauva, Procurement Manager
  • Digu //Naobeb – Former C.E.O

The Ghana Police Service is currently investigating these individuals. Hype.UP Ltd. is fully cooperating with the authorities and is confident that justice will prevail.

A Call for Transparency and Accountability:

Hype.UP Ltd. has consistently acted with transparency throughout this ordeal, providing all relevant documents and invoices to NTB officials, including the Namibia High Commission to Ghana. Despite our good-faith efforts to resolve these matters amicably, NTB officials have stonewalled our attempts at reconciliation and chosen to engage in a smear campaign against our company.

Hype.UP Ltd. urges the media and the public to see through NTB’s smokescreen of deception. Their baseless allegations and refusal to honour their financial obligations are a stain on their organization and the Namibian tourism industry as a whole.

We remain committed to pursuing all available legal avenues to recover the substantial sums owed to us and to hold those responsible for this egregious injustice accountable for their actions.
