I am ready to help the Black Stars – Sulley Muntari says

Former AC Milan and Inter midfielder, Sulley Muntari, has claimed that he is ready to return to the Black Stars and help the team ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Muntari’s last call up to the Black Stars dates back to 2014 after he was sacked from camp during the World Cup in Brazil for an unprovoked physical attack on then-Black Stars management Moses Armah, according to the GFA, and was given an indefinite ban.

The 37-year-old apologised in 2016 but has yet to be invited back, but he hasn’t given up, with his latest take on the Black Stars in an interview on GTV.

“Ghana, even if I’m on crutches today and they call me to come help, I’ll definitely run and go. Even if I can’t play, I’ll sit and contribute,” Muntari said.

Muntari was one of Ghana’s best players during his prime, helping the Black Stars qualify for three consecutive World Cups between 2006 and 2014.

The mercurial has enjoyed a stellar season in the domestic flight as he helped Accra Hearts to the FA Cup title last month.

The former Sunderland player has 20 goals and 84 caps for the senior national team and will be remembered for his thunderous strike in the 2014 World Cup against Uruguay in the quaterfinals where Ghana eventually lost on penalties.
