GFA Penalizes Nations FC, Awards 3-0 Victory to Basake Holy Stars

The Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has ruled in favor of Basake Holy Stars FC, awarding them a 3-0 victory against Nations FC following the abandonment of their recent match. The ruling comes after an investigation into the events that led to the match being called off.

In a decision signed by Committee Chairman Osei Kwadwo Adow, the GFA upheld a protest filed by Basake Holy Stars, determining that Nations FC was responsible for the disruption that caused the match to end prematurely. As a result, the committee dismissed a counter-protest from Nations FC.

According to GFA Premier League Regulations, Nations FC was found guilty of initiating actions that led to the match’s abandonment. Consequently, the club has forfeited the match, resulting in Basake Holy Stars being awarded three points and three goals.

In addition to the forfeiture, Nations FC will face a further three-point deduction from their accumulated points this season, in accordance with Article 33(5)(a) of the GFA Premier League Regulations. The club has also been fined GH₵2,500, with half of the fine going to Basake Holy Stars and the other half to the GFA.

The Disciplinary Committee has instructed the GFA Prosecutor to investigate the reports submitted by match officials and to take action against any individuals found culpable in the incident.

Nations FC’s misfortune comes as Bibiani GoldStars were confirmed as league champions after Nations suffered a 2-0 defeat on the final day of the season. The ruling significantly boosts Basake Holy Stars’ position in the league standings as they continue their campaign.
