NewGold gains GHS 25 in share price; ends trading activity at GHS 185

Absa bank-backed exchange-traded fund (ETF), New Gold (GLD), recorded a share price increase of GHS 25.80 at the close of trading activity on Wednesday, December 21.

The stock ended trading activity with a share price of GHS 185 from the opening share price of GHS 159.20.

Market value of the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) on the back of the rise in share price of New Gold rose by GHS 74.82m to hit GHS 64.48bn.

On a year-to-date basis, the share price of New Gold has witnessed increments by some 70.35% since the beginning of the year.

Despite the increase in the share price of New Gold, the benchmark index – GSE-CI – remained unchanged.

The GSE-CI did not record any change after Wednesday’s trading session  to close at 2,444.54 points representing a YTD return of -12.36%.

The GSE Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI) similarly recorded no change, closing at 2,053.05 points and representing a YTD return of -4.59%.

Meanwhile, a total of 5,678 shares were traded across ten (10) counters. The total value traded was up by 9.32% totaling GH¢15,783.91.

Scancom PLC (MTNGH) emerged as the most traded stock at the close of the trading session, whilst NewGold (GLD) accounted for 58.60% of the  total value traded.
