IES Congratulates Dr. Shafic Suleman on Appointment as PURC CEO

The Institute of Energy Studies (IES) has extended its congratulations to Dr. Shafic Suleman on his appointment as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

In a statement, IES described Dr. Suleman’s appointment as a well-earned recognition of his exceptional expertise and contributions to Ghana’s energy sector.

The institute highlighted his background in energy and petroleum economics, energy policy and law, sustainability, climate, and risk management, noting that these qualifications position him to lead PURC in shaping transformative utility policies.

“As a valued member of the IES Board, your insights and leadership have always been a source of inspiration. We have no doubt that these qualities will positively impact your new role, ensuring the affordability, reliability, and sustainability of utility services for all Ghanaians,” IES stated.

The institute also reaffirmed its unwavering support for Dr. Suleman, expressing confidence that his tenure at PURC will contribute significantly to Ghana’s energy sector and regulatory framework.

IES further emphasized that Dr. Suleman’s leadership would be pivotal in driving innovation, efficiency, and equity in public utilities regulation, advancing the Commission’s objectives to benefit both industry stakeholders and consumers.
