Communications Ministry directs ATC Ghana to restore Telecel sites amid dispute over payment allegations

The Ministry of Communications and Digitalization (MoCD) and the National Communications Authority (NCA) have intervened in a dispute between ATC Ghana and Telecel Ghana, instructing ATC to reconnect all Telecel sites immediately.

Following allegations by ATC that Telecel had defaulted on power and fuel payments, resulting in equipment disconnections at tower co-location sites, both parties issued conflicting statements.

Telecel swiftly refuted ATC’s claims as “utterly false.”

At a meeting held on July 5, 2024, involving key stakeholders, including the Ministry and NCA, it was decided to refer the matter to arbitration under NCA oversight.

Pending arbitration, ATC has been directed to restore services to Telecel without delay and retract their earlier allegations through appropriate media channels.
