Jannik Sinner Extends ATP Ranking Lead Despite French Open Final Loss to Alcaraz

Italy’s Jannik Sinner has solidified his position at the top of the ATP world rankings, maintaining a lead over second-ranked Carlos Alcaraz, even after losing to the Spaniard in the French Open final.

Sinner, who fell to Alcaraz in a thrilling five-set match, earned 500 ranking points for reaching the final, bringing his total to 10,880 points. Alcaraz, who claimed the title for the second consecutive year, remains at 8,850 points but did not gain any new points from the final.

Germany’s Alexander Zverev holds steady in third place, despite his quarterfinal exit at the hands of Novak Djokovic. The veteran Serbian, who fought valiantly but could not secure a set against Sinner in the semifinals, climbed to fifth in the rankings after a strong showing at the tournament.

British player Jack Draper reached a career-high fourth place following his impressive run to the round of 16, where he was ultimately defeated by Alexander Bublik. Bublik himself surged 19 places to 43rd after his performance in Paris.

Lorenzo Musetti, who was forced to retire during the semifinal against Alcaraz, continues his ascent up the rankings, reaching a personal best of sixth. Meanwhile, American Taylor Fritz dropped three spots to seventh after his first-round elimination, while fellow American Tommy Paul soared to eighth, marking his highest ranking to date.

Casper Ruud, a two-time finalist at the French Open, suffered a significant drop, falling eight places to 16th after his second-round exit this year.
