Jeremy Doku Expresses Commitment to Giving Back to Ghana During Summer Visit

Manchester City winger and Belgium international Jeremy Doku has reaffirmed his commitment to his Ghanaian roots during a heartfelt visit to the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, while on summer break in the country of his ancestry.

The 23-year-old footballer, accompanied by his father, Mr. Davies Doku, and other family members, received a warm welcome from the Minister in Accra. Doku expressed his gratitude for the ongoing support he receives from Ghanaians both at home and abroad, and articulated his desire to give back to the nation.

“I cannot shine unless people put me on. I’m proud of my Ghanaian roots, I speak Twi, and I want to come back more often to give back to the land of my parents,” Doku stated.

In response, Hon. Kofi Adams praised Doku as a role model for Ghanaian youth and as a “global ambassador of Ghanaian excellence.” He emphasized that although Doku plays for Belgium, his performances consistently bring recognition to Ghana.

The winger has quietly engaged in philanthropic efforts during his visit, including visits to Komfo Anokye and Achimota Hospitals. According to Lady Dentaa, who leads the delegation, Doku is eager to invest in healthcare and grassroots football development in Ghana.

“He is ready to invest more in Ghana’s youth and health systems,” she revealed.

The meeting concluded with the exchange of gifts and a special invitation for Doku to participate in upcoming youth football clinics organized by the Ministry. This initiative aims to harness the talents of young athletes across the country while strengthening ties between Ghana and its diaspora.
