“Job Is Not Done”: Otto Addo Cautions Fans After Victory Over Madagascar
Ghana’s head coach, Otto Addo, has urged fans to maintain their focus following the Black Stars’ impressive 3-0 victory over Madagascar in a critical FIFA World Cup qualifier on Monday.
The win, which featured a double from Thomas Partey and a close-range finish by Mohammed Kudus, has significantly bolstered Ghana’s hopes of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
With this latest result, Ghana now sits atop Group I with 15 points, five points clear of Madagascar, placing them in a strong position as the qualifiers approach their final stages. However, Addo remained cautious, emphasizing the importance of staying grounded despite the promising outcome.
“We are in a good position, but this is also a danger,” Addo stated in a post-match interview. “I’m already thinking about keeping our heads focused. The job is really not done. If Comoros wins, we could be just three points ahead of them, and it is still a long way to go. We have to focus.”
Addo highlighted the need for both players and fans to be realistic about the challenges ahead. “If anyone thinks we are through, then he is making a big mistake. I have seen a lot of football, and we have to stay focused. I’m happy for today, but the job is really not done,” he added.
The Black Stars have a rich history in World Cup competitions, having participated in four tournaments (2006, 2010, 2014, and 2022) and are eager to secure their fifth appearance in 2026.
