John Ansah Elected GHALCA Chairman, Aims to Unite Ghana Football
John Ansah has been elected as the new Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) during elections held on January 23 at the Accra Sports Stadium. Ansah, a former Vice-Chairman, won decisively with 96 out of 132 votes, defeating Isaac Wilberforce Koomson, who received 35 votes.
In his victory speech, Ansah emphasized his commitment to bringing together all stakeholders in Ghanaian football. He stated, “There is a big challenge in uniting football people, and I want to drive on that.” He aims to create a collaborative environment and will seek advice from experienced colleagues to improve GHALCA.
Ansah praised the previous administration’s achievements but acknowledged the need for progress. “We need to build on their successes and address areas for improvement,” he said, promising an open-door policy for new ideas.
Other election results included Phyllis Marku as Vice Chairperson with 94 votes, while Gabriel Godwin was elected as the Regional Football Association Representative. Fred Tindan became the Premier League Representative after defeating two opponents.
In unopposed positions, Patrick Martey Boye remains Treasurer, Eric Opoku is the Division One League Representative, Gabriel Godwin Kwao represents the Regional Clubs, and ASP Naomi F. Abdulai will serve as the Women’s Premier League Representative.
