Jordan Ayew Praises Father Abedi Pele’s Influence on His Career
Ghana international Jordan Ayew has expressed profound gratitude for the pivotal role his father, Abedi Pele, has played in shaping his career and that of his brothers, Ibrahim and Andre Ayew. Abedi, a legendary figure in African football, has set a high standard for his sons, who are all following in his illustrious footsteps.
Jordan Ayew, currently plying his trade at Leicester City and boasting 300 Premier League appearances, reflected on the expectations that come with being Abedi’s son. “My dad has done a lot, for not only me but my whole family. It’s not easy to come after your father with such high expectations both back home and in Europe,” he stated in an interview with the club’s website.
Both Jordan and Andre Ayew have previously showcased their talents at Abedi’s former club, Olympique Marseille, before embarking on their individual paths in football. Jordan emphasized the importance of focusing on their own journeys despite the pressure of their father’s legacy. “I think me and my brother have coped really well with it and tried to focus on ourselves,” he added.
On the support from his mother, Jordan remarked, “My mum tells me that, but mums are always positive! I feel that my parents can be proud of the journey me and my brother have made.”
As captain of the Black Stars, Jordan is confident that both he and Andre still have much to contribute to Ghanaian football. “There’s still more to come from us, and hopefully we can give them more moments to enjoy,” he concluded.
