Finance Minister Dr. Ato Forson Receives Warm Welcome at Ministry of Finance
Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson was on Thursday, January 23, 2025, warmly received by staff at the Ministry of Finance, marking his return to the institution.
Chief Director Eva Mends, alongside other directors of the Ministry, led the welcome ceremony for the Minister, who was accompanied by Fifi Kwetey, General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and former Deputy Minister for Finance.
Following the welcome, Dr. Ato Forson held a meeting with senior management of the Ministry. During the meeting, he expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve the people of Ghana, emphasizing his commitment to improving the lives of citizens.
“It is a great privilege to be back at the Ministry of Finance, and I am determined to work tirelessly for the betterment of Ghanaians,” he remarked.
Dr. Ato Forson highlighted his priorities, which include creating jobs, maintaining prudent fiscal management, stabilizing the exchange rate, and reducing inflation.
He has pledged to tackle wasteful government expenditure, raise tax-to-GDP ratio to 16%, reduce the annual Cedi depreciation rate to 8%, and cut headline inflation rate from the current 23.8% to a single digit.
The Finance Minister’s ambitious agenda reflects his determination to restore economic stability and foster growth as he takes on the helm of affairs at the Ministry.
