Kamaldeen Sulemana ends goal drought with brace against Liverpool

Black Stars winger Kamaldeen Sulemana flashed his talent and snapped his goal drought against Liverpool in a thrilling final-day battle at St Mary’s Stadium as Southampton fought for a draw in the Premier League.

Despite being relegated, the skillful forward’s goals were crucial in Southampton’s 4-4 draw, delivering a memorable finale to their Premier League campaign.

Liverpool started the match strongly, with Diogo Jota opening the scoring in the 10th minute, followed by Roberto Firmino doubling the lead just four minutes later. However, Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse quickly pulled one back in the 19th minute, injecting hope into the home side.

Kamaldeen Sulemana then stepped up and displayed his prowess in front of goal, leveling the score in the 28th minute to ensure a thrilling first half ended in a draw.

Three minutes into the second half, Sulemana struck again, scoring a magnificent goal. Receiving a pass from his own half, the pacey winger evaded several players before curling a sensational shot into the far post, to complete a remarkable brace.

The excitement continued as the game unfolded, with three more goals from both sides. Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota fought back for Liverpool to secure goals, ensuring a thrilling 4-4 draw. Adam Armstrong had earlier scored for Southampton, adding to the pulsating nature of the match.

Sulemana’s goals were his first since joining the club from Rennes in January. It took him 18 Southampton games to break his goal drought, and the speedster displayed his ability to deliver under pressure.

Although the result didn’t alter Southampton’s relegation fate, finishing the season at the bottom of the table, the draw against a top team like Liverpool provided a positive ending to their Premier League journey.
