Otto Addo reveals he will have selection headaches in the next international window

Head coach of tbe Black Stars of Ghana, Otto Addo has revealed that it would be difficult to select his team for the next international window because he was impressed with the players’ performance and conduct at camp this month.

Responding to their abysmal performnace against Japan in the opening game of the Kirin Cup, the Black Stars held on to a draw against Chile even with 9 men and eventually won the game on penalties after goalkeeper Manaf Nurudeen’s penalty heroics ensured they placed third, pocketing a cool $50,000 as cash prize.

Ghana had earlier beaten Madagascar 3-0 and shockingly drew 1-1 with minnows the Central African Republic in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers two weeks ago.

In all the June international break saw Ghana play four games, recordiing a win, two draws and a heavy loss.

Speaking after Ghana beat Chile on penalties for third place in the Kirin Cup, the gaffer said he it will difficult for him to select his squad for the next international break in Sptemeber ahead of the World Cup in Qatar which commences in November.

“I am satisfied. I think we did well. This makes it difficult for me to choose the players for the next window which will be September and will be the last window for the World Cup and the decision will be with me. We will decide which player will come or not but this tournament was good for us to have some answers,” he said.
