Kofi Adams Praises Black Stars After Crucial Win Over Mali
Ghana’s Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has hailed the Black Stars following their vital 1-0 victory over Mali in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday evening. The win not only provided the much-needed three points but also demonstrated Ghana’s readiness to compete at the highest level.
Speaking after the match, Adams commended the players for their efforts, stating, “It was a good game; we won. What we wanted were the three solid points, and we got the points that we needed.” The victory lifted Ghana to 19 points in Group I, three points clear of second-placed Madagascar, with Alexander Djiku’s second-half header securing the win. This triumph also ended Mali’s impressive eight-match unbeaten run in official competitions, highlighting Ghana’s progress under coach Otto Addo.
Looking ahead, Adams expressed confidence in the Black Stars’ upcoming fixtures. “In three weeks, we will be going to Morocco to face the Central African Republic, and we will take three points from there also and come home to deal with Comoros,” he assured supporters. He urged Ghanaians to continue rallying behind the national team as they edge closer to a fifth World Cup appearance, stating, “Ghanaians should continue to pray for the team and do everything humanly possible to make sure that the Black Stars of Ghana are part of the nation’s teams that will assemble for the World Cup.”
The victory over Mali not only boosts Ghana’s chances of topping the group but also restores confidence after a frustrating draw against Chad in the previous round. With momentum now on their side, the Black Stars are determined to finish the qualification campaign strongly and secure their ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
