Koku Anyidoho Officially Cuts Ties with Atta Mills Family and Institute

Koku Anyidoho has formally ended his rogue association with the family of former President John Evans Atta Mills and the Atta Mills Institute, signaling the resolution of past tensions. The move marks a definitive break from lingering disputes, emphasizing a fresh start for the former aide who has announced that he intends to focus on serving God instead.

Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Anyidoho, son of a senior military officer, declared that he has moved on from advocating for the Atta-Mills family to focus on serving God.

Koku’s father, Major General Henry Kwami Anyidoho, is a retired Major General in the Ghanaian Army who is mostly remembered for his work during the civil war in Rwanda.

Koku wrote: “I wish the Atta-Mills Family well, but I am no longer an advocate for the family. I have moved on to serve God,”

While the former director may have sought to close a chapter in his life quietly, the internet had other plans. His announcement sparked intense backlash, with many questioning his sudden spiritual pivot and accusing him of destroying his reputation.

Netizens waste no time in responding to Koku

Social media users were not impressed by the declaration, with some offering unsolicited life advice while others outright dismissed his statement.

@KwameTraveler bluntly suggested he focus on his affairs, writing: “Chale move on with your life. Your own nuclear family kraaa you destroyed it. You want to advocate for another person’s family.”

Another user, @posiogh (Agama Lizard 🦎), did not mince words either, delivering a scathing critique of the former director’s journey: “The nonsense fooling has cost you your own legacy. You fought so hard to build a legacy with party. You were there when the party took root only for you to let hate and envy ruin your life and your entire family and generation!!”

He went on to claim that neither the National Democratic Congress (NDC) nor the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would want to associate with him or his descendants: “Nobody in the NDC or NPP would want to associate with you or your children or grandchildren cos you have destroyed your legacy and NAME! REST. ENVY AND JEALOUSY TAKES YOU NOWHERE!!!”

Another user, @Humble_tono, added a philosophical touch, implying that his decision made no difference in the grand scheme of things: “The destiny that has been destined to someone cannot be reversed by any human. You have no choice but to wish them well. Just move on with bitterness. Sorry, sir!”

From advocate to “servant of God” – what next?

While the former director did not provide further details on why he felt the need to publicly declare his departure from the Atta-Mills family’s affairs, it is clear that netizens believe his troubles are of his own making.

Meanwhile, Koku Anyidoho has disclosed that the Atta-Mills Institute is now formally renamed the MILLS (Mindset, Integrity, Loyalty, Leadership, Service) Institute.

As the MILLS Institute moves forward under its rebranded name, it remains to be seen what role—if any—the former director will play in its future. For now, however, the online community has made its verdict clear: move on quietly and spare them the drama.
