UMB Leads in Affordable Corporate Lending – BoG Report Reveals

Universal Merchant Bank Limited offered the lowest average annualised percentage rate (APR) of 23.49 per cent on one-year loan facilities to corporate organisations in June 2025, according to the Bank of Ghana’s latest report on lending rates.

At the other end of the spectrum, Agricultural Development Bank Limited charged the highest rate for comparable loans, at 37.60 per cent.

The central bank’s APR measure captures the true cost of borrowing, incorporating the Ghana Reference Rate, bank-specific risk premia, and other fees levied during the loan approval process.

It serves as a benchmark for comparing credit costs across the banking sector.

The June 2025 data covered loans to households, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and corporates, underscoring the wide dispersion in pricing faced by borrowers in Ghana’s credit market.
