Kudus Aims To Return West Ham To European Football Stage

Mohammed Kudus has set his sights on helping West Ham United regain their place in European football for the upcoming 2024/25 season.

The 23-year-old Ghana international is eager to build on his impressive performances from last season, where he scored 14 goals across all competitions.

West Ham, who reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League before being knocked out by Bayer Leverkusen, finished ninth in the English Premier League, missing out on European qualification.

“I want to do better than I did last season, both in terms of numbers and performances,” Kudus said. “But most importantly, my goal is to help the team get back into Europe and challenge for a top-six finish. That’s my personal focus—contributing to the team’s success and pushing us back into European competition.”

West Ham’s recent success includes winning the UEFA Europa Conference League in the 2022/23 season, highlighting their capabilities on the European stage.

Under new coach Julen Lopetegui, the team is optimistic about improving on their performance from last season, which saw David Moyes depart after a challenging campaign.

Kudus has expressed his excitement about Lopetegui’s arrival, noting that the manager’s coaching style aligns with his preferred way of playing.

“Lopetegui’s style is how I want to play, especially as a winger. There is a lot of freedom, which allows me to express myself and contribute effectively. I’m looking forward to working with him and pushing the club to new heights,” Kudus added.

As West Ham prepare for their pre-season tour in the United States, Kudus is determined to enhance his individual performance while playing a crucial role in achieving the team’s collective goals.
