Kurt Simeon-Okraku Appointed CAF Second Vice President

Ghana Football Association President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has been appointed as the Second Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). This prestigious appointment was finalized during the CAF Executive Committee meeting held in Accra on Saturday.

Leadership Recognition

Simeon-Okraku, who also serves as the head of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B, has been acknowledged for his exemplary leadership within the Ghanaian football community and across West Africa. His new role as Second Vice President places him in a strategic position to influence key policies and initiatives that will shape the future of football in Africa.

New CAF Leadership Structure

The recent appointments within CAF include:

– First Vice President: Fouzi Lekjaa (Morocco)
– Second Vice President: Kurt Okraku (Ghana)
– Third Vice President: Pierre-Alain Mounguengui (Gabon)
– Fourth Vice President: Ms. Bestine Kazadi Ditabala (Democratic Republic of Congo)
– Fifth Vice President: Feizal Sidat (Mozambique)

Additionally, Dr. Patrice Motsepe announced the co-option of Yacine Idriss Diallo, President of the Ivorian Football Federation, onto the CAF Executive Committee. The meeting also confirmed the appointments to fill vacant positions on several CAF committees.

Highlights from the committee appointments include:

– CHAN Organizing Committee President: Pierre-Alain Mounguengui (Gabon)
– CAF Technical and Development Committee President: Samuel Eto’o (Cameroon)
– CAF Medical Committee President: Dr. Mohammed Bouya (Mauritania)

Dr. Motsepe expressed his gratitude to the outgoing CAF Vice Presidents for their contributions and leadership during their tenures, emphasizing the importance of strong governance in advancing African football.
