Kwesi Appiah open to return as Black Stars coach
Former Black Stars head coach, James Kwesi Appiah is not ruling out the possibility of a return as Black Stars head coach, he has revealed in a latest interview.
After a disappointing World Cup campaign in Qatar in 2022, Otto Addo resigned from his post as head coach which has left the position vacant for sometime now.
Otto Addo qualified the team to the global showpiece in Qatar after triumphing over Nigeria over two legs but managed to pick up just one win in the group stages of the tournament which led to Ghana’s exit.
With the search for Otto Addo’s successor on-going, Appiah is open to a reunion for the third time having already coached the team from 2011 to 2014 and from 2017 and 2019.
Speaking in an interview with Dan Kwaku Yeboah, Kwesi Appiah says he has not stopped coaching despite his long absence from the touchline and will be willing to help his country once again.
“The fact that I have not come out to say I have stopped coaching if the opportunity comes and I can help why not. Once coaching is my destiny if I’m approached and I can help why not,” he said
Ghana will have to hasten their search for a new coach as the 2023 AFCON qualifiers returns in March this year.
