La Liga: Barcelona Return To Winning Ways After 5-1 Demolition of Mallorca
FC Barcelona bounced back with a commanding 5-1 victory over Mallorca on Tuesday, marking their first win in four LaLiga matches. This win puts Barcelona at the top of the league table with 37 points, four ahead of Real Madrid, who have two games in hand.
The match started with an early goal from Ferran Torres in the 12th minute, thanks to a defensive mix-up by Mallorca. They equalized just before halftime when Vedat Muriqi scored from a perfect pass by Pablo Maffeo.
The second half saw Barcelona take control, especially with the return of 17-year-old Lamine Yamal. He earned a penalty in the 56th minute, which Raphinha converted to put Barcelona ahead. Raphinha added another goal in the 76th minute, finishing from a brilliant cross by Yamal.
Frenkie de Jong also got on the scoresheet, scoring after Pau Victor’s initial attempt was blocked. Victor himself scored the final goal of the night after receiving a pass from De Jong.
Despite Yamal’s near-goal being saved, his performance was a highlight of the match, showcasing his talent and speed. This victory boosts Barcelona’s confidence as they aim to maintain their lead in LaLiga, while Mallorca remains in sixth place, still vying for a Champions League spot.
As they look ahead, Barcelona will seek to continue their winning momentum, while Real Madrid will be looking to close the gap in their upcoming match against Athletic Bilbao.
