Lewis Hamilton Thrives in Ferrari as Pre-Season Testing Begins
Lewis Hamilton is embracing his new chapter with Ferrari as he topped the timesheets during the second morning of Formula One’s pre-season testing in Bahrain. The seven-time world champion expressed his enthusiasm for the car, signaling a promising start as he transitions from Mercedes to the iconic Scuderia.
After concluding the day as the second-fastest driver, just 0.031 seconds behind Carlos Sainz, Hamilton shared his excitement with reporters at the Sakhir circuit. “I am really enjoying the car. We’re slowly bonding, I think,” he remarked. Last season had been challenging for Hamilton, who struggled with the handling of his Mercedes, making this initial experience with Ferrari all the more refreshing.
Reflecting on his progress, Hamilton noted that while the previous day was merely “so-so,” today’s sessions allowed him to delve deeper into the car’s dynamics and strengthen his rapport with his engineering team. “We’re really just focused on doing our job, not watching everything else that’s happening. We’re literally just trying to make sure that we’re learning our processes in the car,” he explained.
As Hamilton navigates the intricacies of the Ferrari’s control systems and suspension setups, he remains committed to mastering the vehicle’s unique driving style. “It likes to be driven differently. And that’s a really fun journey, learning that,” he added.
With each lap, Hamilton is gaining confidence and making incremental improvements, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead as he prepares for the opening race in Australia on March 16.
