Local Bourse Begins Trading Week With GHS 119.8 Billion Market Capitalisation
The local bourse – Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) – begins this week’s trading activities with a total market capitalisation of GHS 119.8 billion.
The GSE began last week with a market capitalisation of GHS 118.3 billion, recording a GHS 1.5 billion increase in market value by the close of trading activities last week.
Increment in the bourse’s market value was underpinned by growth in its composite index which ended the week at 5,351 points indicating a 9.47% year-to-date return on equity investments for investors.
The GSE-Financial Stock Index also ended the week with 2,553 points indicating a 7.83% year-to-date return on investments in financial equities.
The total volume and value of traded equities for last week amounted to 1,485,784 and GHS 10,654,245 respectively.
Equities such as ACCESS, BOPP, CAL GCB, and MTNGH recorded price increases last week, ending the week at share prices of GHS 6.20, GHS 26.25, GHS 0.44, GHS 6.4,4 and GHS 2.80 respectively.
The GSE-Composite Index is expected to continue its positive trajectory in this week’s trading activities leading to increased market capitalisation of the local bourse.
