New Gold ETF dominates trading activity on GSE

Absa-sponsored Exchange Traded Fund (ETF), New Gold, dominated trading activity on Thursday, accounting for 99.79% of the total shares value traded.

The ETF’s total shares value traded amounted to GHS 5.3m at the close of trading activity on Thursday.

Total volume traded of the ETF, was 31,000 way above the 9,476 total volume traded of MTN Ghana.

Despite recording the highest number of volume and value traded on the local bourse, share price of the ETF declined by 51 pesewas ending trading activity with a closing stock price of GHS 171 from the opening stock price of GHS 171.51.

Meanwhile, the Accra bourse did not record any change as it closed at 2,539.21 points, the same mark as it opened, representing a YTD return of  -8.97%.

The GSE Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI) also maintained its  value to close trading at 2,046.56 points translating into a YTD return of -4.89%.

A total of 46,642 shares valued at GH¢ 5,311,915.21 was traded on Thursday.

Compared with the previous GSE trading day (August 17), Thursday’s data shows an 80.90% decrease in volume traded as well as an 85.15% decrease in trade turnover.
