Mahama urges prevention of Kenya-like unrest in Ghana
Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, has highlighted the urgency of preventing unrest similar to the recent disturbances in Kenya.
Kenya has been rocked by protests against new taxes, resulting in fatalities and leading President William Ruto to suspend the new tax measures.
During a working visit to the La Dadekotopon constituency, Mahama condemned President Akufo-Addo’s economic mismanagement and emphasized the NDC’s commitment to creating opportunities, particularly for the unemployed youth.
“Africa’s population is youthful, and while this is advantageous, it can become a timebomb if opportunities are not created,” Mahama stated.
“We have all seen what is happening in Kenya; we don’t want that to happen in Ghana. When we come, things are going to be different. It’s not going to be business as usual; we want to be a government in a hurry to repair the mess created by Bawumia and Akufo-Addo,” he added.
Mahama assured Ghanaians that the NDC is poised to rescue the nation from economic hardships and promised swift measures to turn the economy around.
