Manchester United Unveils £50 Million Upgrade to Carrington Training Complex Ahead of New Season
Manchester United has officially opened the doors to its newly redeveloped men’s first team building at the Carrington Training Complex, a £50 million ($67.22 million) investment aimed at enhancing the club’s performance environment just one week before the Premier League season kicks off.
The year-long project, spearheaded by renowned Mancunian architect Norman Foster and his firm Foster + Partners, is part of a broader £300 million ($403.47 million) capital injection from United co-owner Jim Ratcliffe, who took on his role in late 2023. The redevelopment reflects the club’s ambition and vision for a modern training facility.
The upgraded complex was designed with input from players and staff, ensuring it meets the needs of the team. Features include state-of-the-art equipment and technology focused on nutrition, recovery, and team unity. The building also boasts increased natural light and open workspaces, fostering connectivity among staff and players.
“Following a review of the facility last year, we made a quick decision to invest significantly in the creation of a world-class performance environment,” Ratcliffe stated. He expressed confidence that the new facility would play a crucial role in establishing a winning culture at the club.
Chief Executive Officer Omar Berrada emphasized that the redevelopment represents a significant step toward unifying all aspects of the club around a shared footballing vision.
This latest upgrade follows the construction of a £10 million ($13.44 million) building dedicated to the women’s first team and men’s academy, completed in 2024.
As Manchester United prepares to host Arsenal in their Premier League season opener on August 17, the club is hopeful that the revamped facilities will contribute positively to their performance in the upcoming season.
