Marry the right partner to unearth God’s blessing – Mahama says on 30th wedding anniversary celebration

Former president John Dramani Mahama has advised Ghanaians to ensure they marry the right partner to unearth God’s blessing in their marriage.

Mahama gave the advise ahead of his 30th marriage anniversary.

“In my wife, Lordina, I have found a life-partner with whom I have shared every step of life’s journey this past 30 years and more,” Mahama posted on Facebook.

According to Mahama’s biography online, he married Lordina on 29 July 1992.

Ghanaians have joined in wishing the former first family a happy anniversary on their marriage.

The former president John Mahama and his wife Lordina on Tuesday (26 July) inaugurated an ultra-modern maternity and children’s ward at the Bole District Hospital in the Savannah Region.

The project forms part of the 30th marriage anniversary celebration of the Mahamas and was aimed at reducing maternal and infant mortality.

The ward has a total of 45 beds, 10 baby cots, five weighing scales with height measurements, a Kangaroo mother and child care centre, a delivery room with two delivery beds, and a recovery ward.

The facility also includes a neo-natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with three incubators, five phototherapy units and a baby weighing scale. A theatre space with two theatre beds, theatre light and stool also make up the facility. There are also rooms for Sserilisation, examinations, doctors consulting room, nurses workstations, and a linen room.

“Since this hospital was built in the 1970s it has been an important facility providing healthcare for the people of Bole Bamboi and the many surrounding communities. Over time and with a growing population, it has become important to support the hospital need for expansion to cater for the needs of the people,” Mahama said.

According to him, he made the promise to provide the hospital with an improved maternity ward during their 25th wedding anniversary.

Mahama said the facility will not only benefit patients, but it will also provide a conducive environment for health workers. He urged management of the hospital to adopt an efficient maintenance culture to prolong the lifespan of the facility and the equipment.

Transforming lives

For her party, Lordina said her foundation has over the years transformed many lives, hoping the facility will help provide quality healthcare to the people of Bole and its environs.

“This is our heartfelt contribution to the lovely people of this community,” she said. “I want to thank all our partners and stakeholders that played a part. This facility is an important part of achieving improved maternal health and reduced infant mortality for residents of Bole and it’s environs.”

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the paramount chief of Bole, Bole Wura Sarfo Kutuge Feso I and other chiefs, the Bole DCE, Savanna regional director for health, the Bole district director of health, management and staff of the Bole district hospital and the Bole midwifery training school.
