McLaren on the Brink of F1 Constructors’ Championship Glory at Azerbaijan Grand Prix

McLaren enters the Azerbaijan Grand Prix with a golden opportunity to secure their first Constructors’ Championship title of the 2025 Formula 1 season. With an impressive tally of 12 victories from 16 races and a remarkable 617 points, the team is poised more than 300 points clear of their nearest rival, Ferrari, who sits at 280 points.

As the F1 season approaches its final stages, McLaren’s dominance has been evident, with seven 1-2 finishes and podium placements in all but one round. This weekend in Baku, the team needs to outscore Ferrari by just nine points to clinch the championship, which would be a historic achievement for the squad.

To ensure their title is secured, McLaren must finish the race with a gap of 346 points or more over Ferrari. A win, coupled with a second- or third-place finish, would guarantee them the championship, regardless of Ferrari’s performance.

While Ferrari remains the primary challenger, Mercedes and Red Bull still harbor slim hopes of contention. Mercedes trails by 357 points and must outscore McLaren by 12 points to keep their championship aspirations alive. Red Bull, even further behind at 378 points, needs to outperform McLaren by 33 points to remain in the chase.
