Chelsea cruise to 3-1 victory over struggling Leicester City

Chelsea extended their winning streak to three matches with a convincing 3-1 victory over a struggling Leicester City side. The London club, buoyed by their recent Champions League success against Borussia Dortmund, started strongly and opened the scoring with a magnificent volley from former Leicester player Ben Chilwell.

Despite a brief spell of attacking play from Leicester, Chelsea’s dominance was clear, with Joao Felix and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall hitting the woodwork in quick succession. While Felix thought he had scored, VAR ruled his effort offside.

Leicester equalised through Patson Daka, but Chelsea soon regained their lead with a superb finish from Kai Havertz. Although Mykhailo Mudryk thought he had scored his first goal for Chelsea, it was disallowed for offside in the second half. However, Mateo Kovacic secured Chelsea’s win with a well-placed volley from Mudryk’s header.

Leicester City, who ended the game with ten men following Wout Faes’ second booking, are now in a precarious position, having lost their last five consecutive matches and sitting just one point above the relegation zone. Meanwhile, Chelsea’s mini-revival continues, providing optimism for their fans and signalling a positive trajectory for the club.

Overall, the match showcased Chelsea’s recent resurgence, and the strength and depth of their squad, while also highlighting the struggles of a Leicester City side that has failed to find its footing in recent weeks.
