GPL: Gold Stars FC Extends Unbeaten Streak; Kotoko, Medeama Secure Vital Points

In a captivating weekend of Ghanaian Premier League action, Gold Stars FC continued their impressive unbeaten run, solidifying their position at the top of the table with a decisive 2-0 victory over Aduana FC at the Duns Park in Bibiani.

The match saw Ronald Frimpong and Samuel Atta Kumi both find the back of the net, showcasing Gold Stars’ determination and skill as they maintained their lead with 15 points from seven matches.

The match kicked off with an electric atmosphere as Frimpong opened the scoring just six minutes in, giving the home side an early advantage. The players and fans erupted in celebration, setting the tone for what would be a dominant performance. Kumi sealed the victory with a well-placed shot in the 73rd minute, ensuring that Gold Stars left the pitch with all three points.

In another notable match, Berekum Chelsea handed Legon Cities FC a 3-1 defeat, further deepening the latter’s struggles this season. Chelsea’s Emmanuel Sarpong struck first in the 15th minute, but Legon Cities quickly responded with an equalizer from Suraj Yusif Kamal. However, further goals from Stephen Amankona and Hubert Gyau secured the win for Chelsea, leaving Legon Cities rooted at the bottom of the table without a win after seven matches.

Asante Kotoko also enjoyed success, edging out FC Samartex 1996 with a narrow 1-0 victory, thanks to a second-half goal from Albert Amoah. This crucial win puts Kotoko in second place with 14 points, just one behind the leaders, Gold Stars, but with a game in hand.

Karela United managed to claim their first win in Tamale, defeating Heart of Lions 1-0, courtesy of Abdul Latif’s 82nd-minute goal. Meanwhile, Vision FC was left disappointed after conceding a late equalizer in a 1-1 draw against Bechem United, denying them a vital home victory.
