Moroccan Embassy in Ghana Celebrates Silver Jubilee of Enthronement of His Majesty King Mohammed VI

The Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Ghana has celebrated the 25th anniversary of the ascension of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the Throne in grand style.

During a very well-attended ceremony held at the Movenpick Hotel in Accra, the Moroccan Ambassador to Ghana Her Excellency Imane Ouaadil spoke about the remarkable transformation the Kingdom has experienced under his Majesty’s leadership over the past 25 years.

The diplomat explained that ever since ascending to the throne in 1999, Mohammed VI has led Morocco through an ambitious economic and social transformation that paved the way for development and growth as Structural reforms have been implemented to innovate, attract foreign investment, and modernize infrastructure.

Touching on Morocco’s commitment towards its continent Africa, the Ambassador said that King Mohammed VI has always had a clear vision of the importance of African integration.

Under his reign, Morocco has strengthened its relations with many African countries, including Ghana, through his personal visits to these countries and the signing of cooperation agreements in various fields such as agriculture, health, education, and infrastructure.

Ms. Ouaadil also underlined the Atlantic Initiative, launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in November to facilitate access for landlocked Sahel States to the Atlantic Ocean, which stands as a distinctive framework aimed at fostering multidimensional African cooperation and promoting peace, stability, and socio-economic development on the continent.

In the same vein, she spoke about the Nigeria-Morocco Atlantic African Gas Pipeline, a visionary endeavor to transport natural gas from Nigeria across the entire West African coast to Morocco, which is seen as a catalyst for economic growth, job creation, and improved energy access across the 12 west African countries including Ghana.

In conclusion, the diplomat declared that under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Kingdom is pursuing its tireless efforts to assert its legitimate rights over its southern provinces, through the autonomy plan under Moroccan sovereignty.

The growing international support for the Moroccan autonomy plan as the only solution to the regional dispute has been reinforced by the decision of 28 Arab, African, American, and Asian countries to open diplomatic representations in Laayoune and Dakhla in the Moroccan Western Sahara territory.

The ceremony of celebration was attended by members of the Governement and Parliament, religious leaders and traditional chiefs, business and media personalities, members of the Morocco alumni and Moroccan community in Ghana, and the Diplomatic Corps.
