MTN dominates trading activity on GSE with 99% volume and value traded in equities

MTN Ghana at the end of Wednesday’s trading session dominated trading activity recording 99.7% and 99.1% in total volume and value traded respectively.

A total volume of 4,210,903 shares valued at GH¢5,342,680.91 was traded on Wednesday.

The total volume and value traded represents a significant increase when compared to Tuesday’s volume of 42,010  shares valued at GH¢128,842.12, as five (5) equities changed hands.

Ecobank Ghana and GOIL came in second and third place with total volume and value traded of 5,000 and Ghs 39,000; and 3,500 and Ghs 5,600 respectively.

The GSE’s market capitalization increased by GH¢411.06 million to close trading at GH¢63.42 billion, representing a YTD growth of 16.64% as four (4) counters  registered price gains.

The gains recorded in the equities resulted in gains in the benchmark GSE Composite Index (GSE-CI) and GSE Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI).

The GSE Composite Index gained 39.28 points to close the  trading session at 2,799.69 translating into a YTD return of 44.20%. The GSE  Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI) also gained 26.64 points to close at 1,959.18 translating into a YTD return of 9.90%.
