MTN emerge sole gainer on local bourse for second consecutive day

Scancom Plc (MTNGH) for the second consecutive day emerged the sole gainer on the local bourse appreciating in price by 1.89%, some GHS0 0.02 pesewas.

On the previous day – Wednesday, January 12, 2022 – MTNGH stocks appreciated by 2.91% to close trading session at the price of GHS 1.06.

Opening price for MTNGH stocks at the commencement of trading session on Thursday was GHS 1.06, at the end of trading session, closing price of MTNGH stock was GHS 1.08.

This translates into a year-to-date return of -2.70% for holders of the equity.

Market capitalisation of the bourse on the back of the price appreciation increased by GHS 245.81 million to close trading at GHS 63.87 billion.

Aside emerging the sole equity gainer, MTNGH also emerged the most traded stock in terms of volume and value trading at 250,810 and GHS 270,892 respectively.

A total of 290,602 shares valued at GH¢ 339,132.26 were traded in eleven (11) equities compared to 46,158 shares valued at GH¢56,701.28 which exchanged hands the previous day with Scancom PLC. (MTNGH) recording the largest share of trades, accounting for 79.8% of the total value traded. 

Meanwhile, the benchmark GSE Composite Index (GSE-CI) gained 23.49 points to close trading at 2,753.65 representing a YTD return of -1.28%.

The GSE Financial  Stock Index (GSE-FSI) however remained flat to close trading at 2,151.85 also translating into a YTD return of 0.00%.
