MTN Ghana’s Service Revenue Hits GHS 17.3bn, Driven by Data and Mobile Money Expansion
Telecom giant MTN Ghana has reported a robust financial performance for the third quarter of 2025, with profit-after-tax (PAT) rising by 45.9% year-on-year to GHS5.5 billion, driven by strong revenue growth across key business segments and effective cost management.
According to the company’s financial statement for the period, Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation, and Amortisation (EBITDA) grew by 41.6% YoY to GHS10.2 billion, translating into an EBITDA margin of 58.4%, up by 2.2 percentage points from the previous year.
Total service revenue surged by 36.3% YoY to GHS17.3 billion, underpinned by significant gains in data, mobile money (MoMo), and voice services. Data revenue jumped 46.8% to GHS9.3 billion, supported by an 11.4% increase in active data subscribers to 18.9 million and higher usage volumes.
Voice revenue remained resilient, increasing by 9.3% YoY to GHS2.9 billion, buoyed by a 6.4% rise in mobile subscribers and continued network investments to enhance call quality.
The company’s digital revenue more than doubled, rising 103.3% YoY to GHS324.4 million, driven by an 18.7% increase in active digital subscribers to 5.7 million. Meanwhile, MoMo revenue expanded 39.2% YoY to GHS4.3 billion, supported by a 4.1% rise in active users to 17.7 million.
Revenue from basic services climbed 30.0% YoY to GHS2.9 billion, while advanced services revenue soared 62.9% YoY to GHS1.4 billion.
MTN Ghana also reinforced its position as a key contributor to the national economy, paying a total of GHS7.3 billion in direct and indirect taxes by the end of Q3 2025. Additionally, the company disbursed GHS1.2 billion in fees and levies to various government agencies during the period.
The strong quarterly results underscore MTN Ghana’s sustained operational momentum and its critical role in Ghana’s digital and financial inclusion agenda.
