MTN leads equities on local bourse

Scancom Plc [MTNGh] at the end of trading session on Tuesday, December 14, emerged as the most traded stock on the Accra bourse leading all equities in both value and volume traded.

A total volume and value of 1,674,065 and GHS 1,940,738.50 of MTN shares were traded at the end of the trading session.

Following MTNGh as the next most traded stock on Tuesday, Standard Chartered Bank with volume and value trade of 37,418 and GHS 759,585.40 respectively.

Societe General, CAL Bank and SIC stocks emerged the third, fourth and fifth most traded equities on the bourse respectively.

Generally, market activities on the Ghana stock exchange was dull on Tuesday as investors sweep offers at market price without bargains.

The benchmark composite index as a result stood at 2,810.01 index-points, representing +44.73% YTD change.

The current year to-date return of the composite index is 43.73% higher than its average year-to-date return of  +31.12%. 

The financial stock index stood at 2,073.63 index points, representing 16.32% YTD return. 

By the close of day, a total volume of 1,728,861 shares valued at GHS 2,719,896.76 exchanged hands in nine (9) equities. 

The market capitalization of the Ghana Stock Exchange still stands at GHS 63,884.16 million.
