Asante Gold Completes Construction of $32m Bibiani Sulphide Plant, Targets 92% Gold Recovery by October-End

Asante Gold Corporation has announced the completion and commissioning of its sulphide treatment plant at the Bibiani Gold Mine in Ghana, marking a key milestone in its growth strategy to boost gold output across its operations.

The plant, designed to process four million tonnes of ore annually, commenced 12-hour daily operations on September 27, 2025, with a transition to 24-hour continuous operations scheduled for September 30. Optimization work will continue through October, with the company targeting a significant increase in gold recovery from 60 percent to 92 percent by the end of the month.

The sulphide facility, construction of which began in the fourth quarter of 2024, is expected to unlock gold contained in sulphide mineralisation below 110 metres at Bibiani, where roughly 30 percent of the gold occurs. The plant incorporates flotation, concentrate regrind to 25 microns, Aachen reactor technology for high-intensity leaching, and a carbon-in-pulp circuit. Tailings from the process will return to the existing carbon-in-leach plant for additional treatment.

Project expenditure stands at US$32 million, in line with budget, with the company reporting a zero Lost Time Incident Frequency Rate (LTIFR) and zero Total Recordable Incident Frequency Rate (TRIFR) year-to-date.

“This is a year of executing our strategic plan to allocate significant capital to our mining and processing operations at both Bibiani and Chirano,” said Dave Anthony, President and Chief Executive Officer. “With construction and commissioning of the Bibiani sulphide treatment plant complete, we are focused on the next phase, which moves the plant into operation, ramp-up, testing and optimization to achieve 92 percent recovery and enhance Bibiani’s growth profile.”

The sulphide plant is central to Asante Gold’s plan to raise combined production from Bibiani and Chirano to between 450,000 and 500,000 ounces of gold annually.
