CAF Women’s Champions League: Hasaacas Ladies Miss Out On Qualification Despite 6-1 Win

Hasaacas Ladies will not play in the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League despite securing an emphatic 6-1 win in their final group match of the qualification

After a 3-0 defeat to Edo Queens in their second game, the Ghanaian champions needed a significant goal margin in their final match to ensure a second-place finish and advance to the semifinals of the WAFU B qualifiers.

Fatoumata Toumboura opened the scoring for Hasaacas in the 16th minute, with Grace Animah and Comfort Owusu adding two more goals before halftime. Despite Rahina Moussa Hassane pulling one back for AS Garde Nationale, Hasaacas Ladies led 3-1 at the break.

In the second half, Comfort Owusu completed a hat-trick, while Abigail Sakyiwaa sealed the victory in stoppage time, bringing the final score to 6-1. However, this wasn’t enough as Edo Queens’ 1-0 win over AO Etincelle allowed the Burkinabe side to progress on goal difference.

Edo Queens topped the group with nine points and nine goals, while AO Etincelle advanced with four points and four goals.

Hasaacas Ladies also ended with four points but had only a plus-two goal difference, finishing third.
