NCA and MultiChoice to Convene Stakeholder Committee on DStv Pricing
The National Communications Authority (NCA) has announced the formation of a stakeholder committee to review MultiChoice Ghana’s subscription model, following weeks of public outcry over rising DStv tariffs.
In a statement issued on Sunday, September 7, 2025, the regulator confirmed it had received MultiChoice’s formal response to a notice of possible licence suspension and said the pay-TV operator had agreed to participate fully in the evaluation process.
“The outcome of the Stakeholder Committee would be determined at the end of its work,” the NCA said, adding that MultiChoice had pledged to respect Ghana’s regulatory framework and consumer protection laws.
The first committee meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 8, 2025, to scrutinise the structure of DStv’s pricing in Ghana.
The intervention follows mounting political pressure on the South African-owned broadcaster, with the Minister for Communications, Sam George Nartey, in recent days warning of severe sanctions if the company failed to engage constructively.
The NCA said further updates would be provided “in due course.”
