Nestle Ghana Showcases Commitment to Environmental Sustainability With 100% Recyclable New NIDO Packaging

Nestlé Ghana has introduced a newly redesigned and 100% recyclable packaging for NIDO®, its renowned milk powder brand that has been nourishing Ghanaian households for generations.

The unveiling of the new packaging underscores the company’s commitment to sustainability by reducing waste and minimizing environmental impact.

As part of its environmental sustainability goals, Nestlé aims to make over 95% of its plastic packaging recyclable this year while further reducing its use of virgin plastic by one-third.

The repackaged NIDO® features a visually appealing design that prominently displays key nutritional information, including iron content, to ensure consumers and caregivers are well informed about the essential nutrients fortified in the product and their associated benefits.

Speaking at the re-launch event, Gilbert Tweneboah-Koduah, Category Manager for Dairy at Nestlé Ghana, emphasized the significance of the packaging revamp.

“The new NIDO® packaging reflects our values and commitment to the environment and the communities we serve. NIDO® still has the same nutritious and creamy taste loved by our consumers. It is enriched with iron and essential minerals required by the human body, particularly for children, as it aids in their cognitive development, learning abilities, and overall growth,” he stated.

He further assured consumers that despite the updated packaging, the product retains its trusted quality, market price, and quantity.

Corporate Communication and Public Affairs Manager, Deborah Kwablah, also reiterated the company’s dedication to sustainability.

“We recognize the importance of promoting a cleaner and healthier environment for future generations. This is why we have adopted sustainable practices to minimize the environmental impact of our processes and packaging,” she said.

Beyond the new packaging, Nestlé Ghana remains actively engaged in sustainability initiatives, including waste management programs and the integration of renewable energy sources within its operations.

The new NIDO® packaging aligns with the company’s broader strategy to create a more sustainable future while continuing to provide high-quality nutrition to Ghanaian families.
